The testing of meters, in particular those of the 0.2s class, requires a testing device to have a high degree of accuracy. Regardless of whether transformer connected or directly connected meters are to be tested, the concept of individual on-site meter testing with current and voltage sources is becoming increasingly popular and preferred over combined testing with fixed multi-station meter testing equipment.
If versatility matters the use of OMICRON test technology for meter testing is particularly interesting. It is by far the most complete meter test system of its kind and can hardly be compared to conventional devices. OMICRON's portable testing systems, CMC 256plus and CMC 156 EP, are suitable for on-site testing and for use as a laboratory test system. They are the right choice for those who want to cover a wide range of test applications with one and the same test hardware.

CMC 256plus – Protection Relay Test Set and Universal Calibrator
Along with its various other uses, OMICRON’s
CMC 256plus is particularly suited to meter testing. The voltage range of the testing system also covers meters connected directly to the mains voltage. The precision of the voltages and currents eliminates the need for a reference meter. With the "Meter" software module, all types of meters, including electronic or Ferraris, effective and reactive power meters, can be tested in full and automatically. Suitable scanning heads are also available.
CMC 156 – Lightweight and high-precision
Thanks to its compact design and low weight of just 9.8 kg (22 lb), OMICRON’s CMC 156 is the perfect testing device for all tasks that require easy handling. Equipped with the EP (Extended Precision) hardware option, the CMC 156 is the ideal instrument for testing electricity meters. With the "Meter" software module, all types of meters, including electronic or Ferraris, effective and reactive power meters, can be tested in full and automatically. Suitable scanning heads are also available. Thanks to the high level of precision, meters with an accuracy class of up to 0.2s per the IEC 62053 standard can be tested without the need for an additional reference meter.
