When investigating a relay or protection system, the measurement and recording of analog and binary signals is a key analytical tool of the protection engineer. The CMC 256plus and CMC 356 test sets contain a powerful 10-channel transient recorder and measurement function which utilizes the OMICRON EnerLyzer software.
The EnerLyzer software option enables the test sets to do 10 channel transient recording at sample rates up to 28 kHz. It is a multimeter for I, V, f, S, P, Q, cos phi and it provides trend recording for I, V, f, S, P. EnerLyzer can also provide a powerful harmonics analysis functionality.
With the EnerLyzer option, the measuring functions can also be used simultaneously with the generation of output signals in order to carry out signal monitoring. There is also a range of trigger functions that include Power Quality values. Typical applications are recording real power transformer inrush currents to verify the transformer protection does not inadvertently operate during such inrush conditions or verifying generator synchronization accuracy during commissioning of a new power plant.

EnerLyzer is a software option for the CMC 356 or
CMC 256plus, enabling powerful analog measurement functions. With this software module, each of the assets' ten binary inputs can be reconfigured for optionally being used as analog measurement inputs. Together with EnerLyzer a CMC test set becomes a multifunctional measurement and recording unit.

CMC 256plus - Protection Relay Test Set and Universal Calibrator
OMICRON’s CMC 256plus is not only a test system, but also a universal calibrator with high accuracy. It is equipped with four voltage outputs (0 … 300 V) and six current outputs (0 ... 12.5 A or 3 x 25A). The CMC 256plus is ideal for testing all generations and types of protection relays. It defines the state of the art for testing in IEC 61850 environments, supporting GOOSE messages and IEC 61850 9-2- LE "Sampled Values". Equipped with the software option EnerLyzer the CMC 256plus is the perfect tool for transient recording and measurement.

OMICRON's CMC 356 is a universal test set and commissioning tool. It comes with extremely powerful current amplifiers rated 6-phase, 0 - 32A each (3 x 64 A), with more than 400 VA per channel. This makes the CMC 356 the perfect tool for testing all generations of relays – from electro-mechanical relays to all generations of numerical relays including IEC 61850 IEDs. Equipped with the ELT-1 hardware option and the EnerLyzer software option, the CMC 356 becomes a high-performance 10 channel current and voltage transient recorder and measurement device for amplitude, phase, frequency, power (S, P, Q), harmonics, trend recorder, etc.
