Main applications:
- Testing the I>> element (with e.g. 50 A) of an overcurrent relay per phase by paralleling the outputs of the CMC 256/256plus or CMC 356. Approved current rating: 1 x 75 A
- Switching up to 4 current outputs of the CMC 256 in series to gain four times higher voltage in the current path (e.g. for testing distance, electromechanical relays).
- Using a CMS 252 (1 x I, 1 x U) without rewiring when changing phases.
The relay is connected to the outputs of the CM ASB2 switching box in the ordinary 3-phase manner. The inputs of the switching box are connected single-phase to a current output and (if required) voltage output of the test set. Any single- or two phase fault can be applied to the test object.
The CM ASB2 has two operation modes:
Manual control | Switching fault loops is done at the front panel of the box. Static Signals shall be generated by QuickCMC or modules that support a static output mode. |
Automatic control | Switching fault loops is done via the 4 transistor outputs of a CMC 256/256plus/356. |
The following modules support the automatic box control (supported from TU 2.0 on):
- Advanced Distance
- Distance
- Autoreclosure
- VI Starting
- Overcurrent
The box is also supported by other modules that control the 4 transistor outputs:
- State Sequencer
- Ramping
- Advanced TransPlay
This kind of box control is supported from TU 1.4 onwards.
