Passive Optical Scanning Head with Suction and Adhesive Fixation

The OSH256 optical scanning head (VEHZ2006) detects the status of an LED, either an optical pulse output from an energy meter or the binary status of a protective relay or other similar optical source.

The OSH256 can be connected to the EXIF socket of a CMC 256/256plus or CMC 356 by means of the adapter cable (VEHK0010) or a CMLIB B (meter testing application). For relay testing applications the IFB256 is used to connect to a binary input of a CMC test set.

The unit has a unique fixing method as the lightweight scanning head can be attached to smooth surfaces by means of its suction cup or by a re-usable adhesive rubber compound in case of a non-planar surface.

The adhesive rubber compound additionally screens the sensor from ambient light (1 pack rubber compound included).

IFB256

Interface Box for OSH 256 for sensing relay LED's

The interface box IFB 256 (VEHZ1152) is required for the connection of the LED sensing optical scanning head OSH 256 to a binary input of a CMC test set.

Typically the combination of an OSH 256 and an IFB 256 is used for relay testing when binary information (trigger) originates from a relay's LED. The IFB 256 is directly connected to the EXIF socket of a CMC 256/256plus or CMC 356 which provides the auxiliary DC supply to the scanning head. The binary signal is connected to the inputs of the CMC via banana plug leads.

TK323

Photoelectric Scanning Head TK 323

The photoelectric scanning head TK 323 (VEHZ2005) is suitable for scanning of all known rotor marks of Ferraris meters and for scanning of LED up to the infrared wavelength range. It includes a spiral cable for the connection to the adapter cable or to a CMLIB B.

TVS 6.15/1

Magnetic Scanning Head TVS 6.15/1

For electronic meters with optical pulse outputs the magnetic scanning head TVS 6.15/1 (VEHZ2004) is available. It can be used on most electronic meters.

Adapter Cable

Adapter Cable

The adapter cable (VEHK0010) connects scanning heads (OSH256, TK323, TVS 6.15/1) directly to a CMC 256/256plus or CMC 356 test set. The scanning heads connection cable is simply extended by  the adapter cable plugging the 5-pole LEMO connectors into each other. The 16-pole LEMO connector is plugged into the LEMO socket "ext. Interf." at the rear of a CMC test set. From there the scanning heads are supplied with 14 VDC and meter pulses are fed to the counter input of the CMC.

CMLIB B
CMLIB B

CMLIB B set

A CMLIB B Set supports specific tests beyond the simple set-up with the adapter cable (VEHK0010). The CMLIB B comprises the CMLIB B Box, the 16-pole connection cable to CMC's and a power supply. Cases where the adapter cable (VEHK0010) cannot replace a CMLIB B:

  • if the scanning head is used in conjunction with a CMC 156 test set (does not provide DC supply)
  • in cases where reference meters are used where two pulse inputs are needed
  • for accessing the binary transistor outputs of a CMC

A CMLIB B provides the following connection terminals:

  • 16-pin LEMO socket to connect the CMLIB B to the ext. Interf. socket of a CMC
  • 2-pin socket for connecting the power supply
  • two 5-pin LEMO sockets to connect to a scanning head (OSH 256, TK232 or TVS6.15) and/or to a reference meters pulse output
  • 5 banana sockets (1-4, N) providing access to the transistor outputs of a CMC
  • 2 banana sockets for connecting pulses from a meter and/or a reference meter (as an alternative to the 5-pin LEMO sockets)
